Cape Hatteras kiteboarding is one of the top destinations and is about 70 miles long and at its widest its around 1 mile wide. On the east coast you have the Atlantic Ocean and on the west side you have the Pamlico Sound. The Atlantic offers some of the best waves on the east coast and the Sound side offers flat and shallow water for miles. So no matter what your riding style, you’ll find something that suits your needs. The closest major airport to Cape Hatteras is Norfolk International Airport (ORF). From there its best and most affordable to get a rental car which can be purchased at the airport. You’ve still got a 1-2 hour drive depending on how far your going down into the OBX. They do have an airport close to Real Watersports (The Dare County Regional Airport) if you’ll be flying in on a private plane or jet.
